Follow new updates and improvements to Vira Theme.

2026.7 — July 2026

While we’re working on supporting the new VS Code user interface, here’s some exciting updates!

NEW

  • Introduce a new set of “outline” icons for product icons.  Open the command palette and search for “Product Icon Theme” to swap the UI icons for a more immersive experience.

IMPROVED

  • We’ve updated some of the solid product icons to better match the style of other icons.

FIXED

  • We fixed some color keys across VS Code interface. Other editors should not be affected.

2026.6 — June 2026

NEW

  • Add new file icons

  • Add new ui icons to cover chats, git operations and agent workflows.

  • Add new setting to disable italic font style for selected syntax scopes.

IMPROVED

  • Uniform inactive background color across all variants.

2026.5 — May 2026

We’ve developed four fresh colour schemes to add some variety to the family.  These are complemented by various fixes to colour and contrast across all variants.

NEW

  • Add new variant Montana

  • Add new variant Clay

  • Add new variant Sand

  • Add new variant Anthracite

  • Support for new Agent Mode window. To use Vira Theme in the new Agent Mode you must explicitly allow it from your global setting:

    "extensions.supportAgentsWindow": { "vira.vsc-vira-theme": true, }

IMPROVED

  • We’ve adjusted Palenight’s colours to reduce brightness and flashing.

FIXED

  • Improved some contrast in various variants

  • We reduced the minimum VS Code version to v1.102 to include more editors like Cursor, Antigravity and Windsurf.
